Emma Knight signed an letter-of-intent to run cross country and track at the University of North Alabama

The Corinth High School student body president, who scored a 30 on the ACT and currently ranks first in a class of 140, will also be on an academic scholarship.

The 17-year-old is just one of the first four to receive the Cambridge College and Career Readiness Medallion for passing seven IGCSE Cambridge examinations at the required Percent Uniform Mark (PUM) score.

Knight helped the Lady Warriors to the 2014 Class 4A cross country championship in 2014, a pair of runner-up finishes -- as well as a third -- over the past four seasons. She was named All-State the last four years.

On the track, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Preston Knight, was named All-State from 2012-2014. She won the state championship in the 1600-meter run in 2013. Knight earned silver in the event in 2012 as will as the 800-meter run in 2013.

Knight ran to a pair of North Half titles in both the 800 and 1600 runs in 2013.

A Mississippi finalist for the 2015 Wendy’s High School Heisman, Knight earned Athlete of the Year honors in the 5K at the 2013 Mississippi State Games, held annually in Meridian. She was also a member of the USA Track and Field Junior Olympic team in Cross Country in 2013.

Knight is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hussey and Mr. and Mrs. Stafford Knight all of Corinth.
