Congratulations to Katie Hurt: Rotary Student of the Month for April

Katie Hurt, daughter of Patti Hurt and Mitchell Hurt, has been selected as the Corinth Rotary Student of the Month for April.

 

Ranked tenth in her class of 140, Katie has a GPA of 4.16. She has earned her Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) Diploma through Cambridge. Katie was selected to be a member of the Corinth High School Class of 2016 Hall of Fame. She has been on the honor roll every year of high school and will graduate with seventeen college hours.

 

Katie has been involved in many activities and organizations during her high school career. She is the president of the Interact Club, president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, secretary of the Future Business Leaders of America, and secretary of the Science Club. Katie is also a member of other clubs, including Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Key Club, Pep Club, and Drama Club. She has been involved in the Corinth High School musicals Grease, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Legally Blonde, and the Brothers’ Grimm Spectaculathon. Katie has been a member of the International Thespian Society for three years. She has been a member of the Corinth Tennis Team for six years, the Corinth Soccer Team for two years, the Academic Team for two years, and is a part of the Corinth High School Wifi Productions team.

 Katie participated in Junior Leadership Alcorn County and was selected to be a delegate to the 2015 Mississippi Magnolia Girls State. She has volunteered in many areas of the community. Katie enjoyed serving at the Corinth Animal Shelter, Coke Race, Rotary Race, Christmas Baskets for Rotary, Can Food drive, Corinth Parade of Homes, and the Boys and Girls Club. She is an active member of the First Baptist youth group and has enjoyed participating in Vacation Bible School, the singing Christmas Tree, and Creative Arts. She has enjoyed going on mission trips to Mission Arlington and Pittsburg Projects.

 Katie has been accepted to the University of North Alabama where she plans to major in nursing. After receiving her bachelor’s degree, she hopes to receive her Masters and work at UAB as a neonatal nurse.
