Corinth High School senior baseball standout Griffin Enis has cranked out another homerun, but this score comes in the classroom.
Enis will be honored on Tuesday, May 6 in Clinton by the Mississippi High School Athletic Association as one of 16 statewide winners for the 2025 Lindy Callahan Scholar Athlete.

The Warrior centerfielder and four-year starter has made another great catch, this time for a $1,500 scholarship. Better known for his RBIs and hits at the plate, Enis has also put up some impressive numbers in the classroom — 33 ACT score, 4.31 G.P.A. and current fourth rank in the Class of 2025.

“It’s an honor to be nominated,” said Enis, the son of Ryan and Meredith Enis of Corinth. “I want to well represent Corinth High School and the Corinth School District.”

Corinth High School Interim Principal Adam Kirk said the award is well deserved.
“Griffin is a true definition of a student-athlete,” said Kirk. “We can’t say enough good things about this kid. He is competitive both in the classroom and on the field. He is being rewarded for his hard work and dedication.”

The student-athlete played baseball, basketball and football throughout his middle school and high school career, but decided to turn all of his attention to baseball for his senior year, said Enis.

He has signed a scholarship to play baseball at Duke University, where Enis said the attraction was both the baseball coaching staff the noted high academic performance rate at the school.

He will major in economics with a “dream job” in mind — a front office position for a Major League Baseball team.
“I feel right at home at Duke,” said the senior, who enjoys English, creative writing and reading when not playing his favorite sport.
Enis is the grandson of Bill and Phyllis Enis of Columbus and retired longtime Crossroads area educators Charlie and Judy Miskelly.
Corinth High School Head Baseball Coach Kevin Williams said his star player “is truly a one-of-a-kind young man.”

“The Lord has truly blessed him with many physical talents, but the tool that sets him apart is his character,” said Williams. “He is an incredibly dedicated and driven young man. His work ethic and commitment to excellence is second to none.

“His legacy he has built reflects the high standards that we hold dear at Corinth High School. I’m extremely happy his efforts on and off the field are being recognized in this way,” added the coach. “It’s always been very important to him that people know he is a committed student as well as a player. I don’t know anyone who embodies the true spirit of a student-athlete better than Griffin.”

Enis’ current baseball statistics include a .527 batting average with six doubles, one triple and nine homeruns.

The CHS senior was one of just over 200 student-athletes nominated for the awards from across the state. He is the District I male winner, along with female winner Marley Caitlin Garnett of Wheeler School.

The award which began in 1996 honors Mr. Lindy Callahan, longtime athletic director at Gulfport High School and eight-time Hall of Fame nominee.
