Corinth Welcomes Assistant Superintendent

The Corinth School District welcomes Milton Ray III as the assistant superintendent for the district. Ray was most recently the principal of Pascagoula High School since 2023.   

Ray is excited to serve alongside the students, families, teachers and staff at Corinth School District. “Throughout my career, I have always been driven by a desire to make a difference, inspire others, and create opportunities that help students and educators reach their full potential,” said Ray. “What drew me to Corinth was the district’s history of innovation and its willingness to think differently about how we prepare students for success. As Mississippi’s first District of Innovation, Corinth has shown a commitment to creating meaningful educational experiences for students. I am excited for the opportunity to become part of this community and continue building on the great things already happening.”

Additionally, Ray has served as principal for North Gulfport Elementary and Middle School from 2021-23; principal at Crossroads Elementary School from 2018-21; and assistant principal at North Gulfport Middle School from 2016-18. He was named 2025 Administrator of the Year for Pascagoula-Gautier School District. 

As a seasoned education administrator, Ray has several goals as he begins his time at Corinth. “My first priority is to listen, learn, and build relationships with the students, staff, families, and community members who make Corinth special,” said Ray. “I believe strong systems create opportunities for success, so I look forward to supporting our schools through effective operations, collaboration, and a continued focus on academic excellence. My goal is to serve alongside our principals, teachers, and staff to remove barriers and help them continue the great work already happening in the district.”

Ray began his career as a math teacher, basketball and track coach at S.V. Marshall High School in Tchula, Miss., where he was named Teacher of the Year in 2008-2009 and in 2009-2010. He also served as a math teacher and head boys basketball and track coach at Forest Hill High School in Jackson, Miss. and as a physical education instructor, basketball and track coach at West Harrison High School in Gulfport, Miss. 

Ray received his bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from Mississippi Valley State University and his master’s degree in educational leadership through the Principal’s Corp at the University of Mississippi in 2017. 

Ray and his wife, Mrs. Chaqueta Weston-Ray, are excited to become part of the Corinth community, build relationships, and contribute to the continued success of the district. Ray also has two sons that he is extremely proud of, Damarius and Dezmond Ray.
