The 8th grade boys basketball team returns a solid group from last year that finished 7-3. All five 7th grade starters were allowed to play in the Five County Championships last year with the 8th grade team. They finished in 2nd place and that game experience is going to play a crucial part in this season’s 8th grade team.
“We have a lot of vocal leaders in this group and it’s the closest team I’ve had in 3 years being the head coach,” said Head Coach Logan Lyles. “They love playing together and being on the court together! We look to continue the success going forward this season.”
The 7th grade boys basketball team is also going to be really exciting to watch. “We had a really good experience playing summer ball,” said Coach Lyles. “That experience will be a key in the Warriors being successful early in the season since the team has already played together.”
The assistant coaches on the middle school teams have a wealth of experience. Coach Anthony Brown is returning for his third season. He is a former D1 athlete (Memphis Football) and his experience on knowing what it takes to play at the next level is awesome to have around the program. Also, Coach Bobby Mayes is the team’s new assistant coach. He is a Corinth legend and helped lead the Warriors to a gold ball in 1993. His experience and knowledge are huge assets for the Middle School program. “I tell everyone I’m truly blessed to have the best assistant coaches in the game!” said Coach Lyles.
