Foundation Gala on August 26
On Saturday, Aug. 26, the Corinth School District (CSD) Foundation hosted an evening gala at Crossroads Arena with over 250 guests in attendance. As the primary fundraiser for the Foundation, this event raised over $120,000 that will be used to support Corinth teachers and students through innovative, student-focused project grants, student scholarships and teacher/student appreciation initiatives.
The theme of this year’s fundraising event was the school district’s Community Book Read, Starry River of the Sky by Grace Lin.
During the evening, the Foundation presented four prestigious awards. First, Bentley Newton received Outstanding Student of the Year. This award recognizes excellence in academics, leadership and school and community involvement. Bentley excels in academics and athletics, provides a helping hand to anyone in need and leads his fellow students through student government. Bentley’s actions and demeanor exemplify what it means to be a true Corinth Warrior.
Second, Kristie Studdard received Outstanding Teacher of the Year. This award recognizes excellence in teaching, creativity and quality of instruction, and significant contributions to the Corinth School District. Currently, Kristie leads the Culinary Arts program with over 80 students. In 2020, as child nutrition director, she led the district’s efforts to feed all the Corinth School District students during the COVID pandemic.
Third, Albertine “Peaches” Lowe-Warren received the Lifetime Achievement award. This award recognizes excellence in support of the school district over an individual’s lifetime through community and school involvement, leadership and exemplary character. Albertine served 39 years in the Corinth School District as a 5th grade teacher and as assistant principal at South Corinth Elementary School and Corinth Middle School. During her tenure, Albertine was a leader of peer teachers and had a great rapport with parents, students and community members.
Finally, Hull Davis received the Corinth Champion award. This award recognizes an individual who actively champions the Corinth School District through school involvement, athletic support and positive community engagement. Hull, a civic leader and lifelong banker, was known for his community involvement, generosity, and love for Corinth. He was a true Champion of the school district as an active alumnus, parent and grandparent. His sons, Frank and Bill Davis, accepted the award on his behalf.
In addition to the awards program, this memorable evening included a seated dinner, silent auction and entertainment. Also, the Culinary Arts students helped serve the meal to guests. The Foundation is grateful to our 60 community sponsors that made this event possible with their support.
Founded in 2015, the CSD Foundation has already distributed over $100,000 to Corinth teachers and students for grant projects and student and teacher appreciation events. Led by nine local community board members, the Foundation bridges the gap between the needs and wants of the school district’s teachers and what the district can provide with public funds. The Foundation is excited use the proceeds from this event to continue to support Corinth teachers and students.
